In general, the WebDesk supports connections from Windows XP or higher, or from newer models of Apple computers. The main requirement for connecting to the system is an Internet connection that support Remote Desktop connections.
The WebDesk server uses Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol (also called RDP) to establish client connections. Since RDP traffic uses TCP port 3389, this port must be open on any firewalls associated with the machine being used to connect to the WebDesk.
If you are unable to connect to the WebDesk using any of the methods described, and you’ve gone through the resolving problems section for your version of Windows; please check with your network administrator, or the provider of your firewall to determine if TCP port 3389 (also known as the RDP port) is open or closed. If the port is closed, ask if they are willing to open it for you.
Some of the more sophisticated firewalls will allow RDP traffic, but they will filter the traffic using protocol filters. Filtered RDP traffic will cause printing problems. In these scenarios you will need to work with your network administrator to see if the RDP protocol filter can be removed for your connection to the network.
